American Robin

Turdus migratorius - Year-round -  eats insects and fruit

American Robin

Robins are the largest North American thrushes. Males have a darker head than females. A year-round bird in Elephant Butte. The winter of 09/10 a flock of 20 or more birds spent the daytime hours roosting in the Honey Locust tree. Here one sits in an Apricot tree singing and watching over the birdbaths. The robins do not visit my feeders, preferring the berries from desert scrub, but do get drinks off and on all day from both the pedestal birdbath and the ground birdbath.
